Hiking the Mombacho
& Canoeing the San Juan River
Day 1:
Arrival at Nicaragua International Airport. Meet & Greet follow by a guided transfer to Granada city.
Overnight in Granada
Day 2:
After an early breakfast at your hotel, you will head to the Mombacho Volcano Reserve. For your visit, our vehicle will lead the way to the foot of the mountain where you will get in touch with the park keepers. Then you switch vehicles and start on your way up to the top. The adventure begins on a paved road and right from the start we will be surprised by the biodiversity of this nature reserve and enjoy the breathtaking views .You will then take the challenging Puma trail of the volcano (For approximately 4 hours) to learn a lot about the flora, the fauna, the ancient people who lived there and the Vulcan logy of the area. When you return from the walk, you will visit the biological station where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or purchase snacks. Our experts guide will let you know when it is time to board the vehicle that will transport you back to the foot of the mountain.

Day 3:
Breakfast and morning at leisure at Colonial Granada to have some experience on your own and to prepare the equipment for the next part of the Adventure.
After lunch you will head to the marina to ferry that will take you to San Carlos town. (flight from Managua is also an option).

Day 4:
Breakfast on your own at San Carlos – You will be meet by the local guide who will be with you for the rest of the trip. Sometime in the morning you will take the boat towards El Castillo town.
Afternoon for last minutes shop, to check the canoes and to enjoy El Castillo town.

Day 5 to Day 10:
The Rio San Juan, described by Mark Twain as "an earthly Paradise” will host you for the next 5 days in your canoeing adventure. Along the 160 kilometers the Majestic Indio Maiz reserve will be your companion. The rain forest Indio-Maíz reserve has been described by University of California at Los Angeles biologists as "the gem of Central American nature reserves. It is home to many endangered species: howler, white faced and spider monkeys, jaguar, giant anteaters, crocodiles, toucans, parrots and a rainbow of orchid and butterflies. Scientific reports over 600 species of birds live here, along with more than 300 species of reptiles and 200 species of mammals. During the route, you will also learn from your local expert the fascinating history of how the Spanish conquers passed through, the British intentions, and pirate’s fights for treasures. Day 10:
Your will arrive to San Juan of Nicaragua, located just in front of the Caribbean Sea. Walk around the little town have lunch on your own with local and then head to your hotel for dinner and overnight Overnight at San Juan de Nicaragua.

Day 11:
After a delicious Nicaragua lunch your will head back in a Private boat to el Castillo town, where you will spend the rest of your day. (You can also book a helicopter back to Managua on the same day).

Day 12:
Breakfast – Boat transportation from Castillo to San Carlos to catch the local flight back to Managua. Rest of the day Managua capital city. We recommend you visit the Acahulinca foot prints and the Huembes market and have. Overnight at Managua
Day 13:
Transfer from hotel to International Airport for your flight back home.
