My wife Maureen and I went to Costa Rica last month for a do nothing one week vacation. We had planned to lay around, relax and do as little as possible for that week. The day after arriving, there were an assortment of tours offered by the resort. This was the one thing my wife and I do not participate in when we travel. The thought of getting on a bus and being kidnapped for the entire day is not what we enjoy doing. I glance quickly through the list of offered tour to be polite to our host at the resort, when I came upon Nicaragua. I never wanted to go to Nicaragua. I never thought of going to Nicaragua. Nicaragua was like Iraq to me. So I signed up. Maybe because it was so close to the resort. Maybe it was the adventure of going to some bad place for the thrill.

We pass through the border and there was a handsome man standing in the front of the bus. The Costa Rica tour guide introduced Juan Carlos, and handed him the microphone. The rest I will say was "Nicaraguan History". I enjoy watching the History Channel here in the United States. Juan Carlos was like watching the History Channel and the subject was "The History of Nicaragua". He was superb! He taught me more in that afternoon then I would have never imagined. Juan Carlos, and Nicaragua was the highlight of my week visit to Central America.

I would like to pass along a very special thanks to Juan Carlos, and look forward to visiting his wonderful Nicaragua again.

Also, both Aura and Victor very much impressed our group!!!!  I am reading over the evaluation forms sent to me by our participants, and every one, EVERY ONE of them mentions how much they enjoyed having Aura and Victor as part of our team.  The trip wouldn’t have been nearly as successful without Aura’s excellent guidance, information, and help.  She is so knowledgeable, so easy to be with, so thorough, so caring, and so diligent in her work.  We think she is just about perfect, in fact!  There simply could not be a better tour guide, and we will absolutely ask for her again next year!  Victor was a dependable and patient and careful driver, always smiling and pleasant during two very long days of driving.  These two did a phenomenal job, and I can’t thank you enough!

Our trip to Nicaragua was wonderful.  Every step of the way, the services that you provided were top notch!  All of the drivers were prompt and friendly.  The resorts were all great - El Convento - Patio del Malinche and the best one was Villas de Palermo.  We actually extended our stay at Villas de Palermo because we liked it so much - and the tour company accommodated us without a problem.  Everyone at Latin Destinations/Careli Tours was wonderful and the price that we paid for the trip was very very reasonable.

I wish I could book all of my trips through your company.  I travel often and will definitely use your company again,and will tell all of my friends and colleagues about your site.

I learned about the  people and customs of the people I visited and how they live productive and rewarding lives.  I also saw many marvelous things,  And had some wonderful adventures: ... Zapatera Island...The trip to Zapatera Island was hosted by Rafael Cordoba, owner of the Lodge on the Island and also owner of La Ceiba Island (now called Isla Muerto) just off the beach on Zapatera.  He made a special point to take me to Ceiba to show me the ancient Pectoglyphs carved in basalt on top of the hill.  However, I became concerned that we should not be there when I realized we were walking on the glyphs.  They need to be protected.  It is easy for me to say after I was given this honor, but visitors should not visit this site until proper facilities are erected to protect them.  But they are magnificent."

My friend Victoria Holden and I travelled to Nicaragua from December 17-January 4th and were looked after by Juan Carlos from Careli Tours.

I just wanted to let you know that I found the service from your company excellent. Juan Carlos was really helpful, friendly and is very knowledgable about the country. He was always on time and very reliable. I think he's a real asset to your company and would like to recommend him.

Also, we had a driver who picked us up from Managua airport when we got back from the corn islands and also transferred us from San Juan Del Sur to the Corn Islands. I don't know his name, and he didn't speak english, but he was very helpful too and helped us out greatly. We'd like to recommend him too!

We are back and working again. I wanted to drop you a note about the trip. Nicaragua is a underdeveloped jem. Lots to see and do. The people,food,beer and rum some of the best I've experienced. All of Careli's arrangements worked out great. Not one transfer was late, and all the guides were great. The Mancarrun Hotel is a little isolated, but the friendly people that run the place more then make up for this. I would suggest that you make sure they leave the generator on at night (you need the fans to work and it is very dark). After the first night we asked them to run the generator. All in all it was a wonderful trip and you and Careli did a great job. Please feel free to use us as a positive reference. Thank you again.

PS Do you have a address for the Mancarrun Hotel? I want to send some fishing gear to Rodrigo, and some music to the teenage kid there. Thank you.

Estimados amigos:
Una vez de vuelta en casa, deseo envíales en nombre del grupo mi agradecimiento por sus atenciones durante nuestra estancia en Nicaragua. Las personas que me acompañaron aseguran que ha sido el mejor, más lindo y entrañable viaje que han realizado nunca, y en eso ustedes han sido también protagonistas. Quiero, por tanto, elogiar su profesionalidad pero, además, destacar ese añadido de hospitalidad nicaragüense que tanto les caracteriza y que ha contribuido a hacernos mucho más grata la estancia. Debido al contacto más cercano que mantuvimos con ellos, les rogaría que saludasen especialmente a la señorita Yariela, a la señorita Urania y a don Rodrigo Jeréz. Espero poder contar de nuevo con todos ustedes para próximos viajes.

Por último, les informo que el viaje de regreso, aunque largo y cansado, transcurrió sin problemas. Comentarles nada más que al entregar las camionetas en el aeropuerto el muchacho no tenía en el expediente de facturación dos de los cuatro voucher de VISA que le firmamos el primer día. Supongo que los anularán, en cualquier caso si observásemos alguna anomalía se lo comentaría a ustedes para que hablasen con ellos. Y nada más que reiterarles nuestra gratitud y desearles que continúen
trabando de esa manera por el turismo nicaragüense.

I just wanted to pass along a few positive words about my recent vacation to Nicaragua, which I booked through Latin Destinations, but was handled mainly by your group.  I was extremely please with how everything worked out.  Logistically, especially, everything was much better than expected.

I have nothing but very positive words for my personal guide, Augusto.
He was very professional, knowledgeable, and accommodative to my needs.
His English is excellent, which was a big help.  He made my vacation more enjoyable, and I wished to pass that sentiment along to you, his employer.  Augusto will be a big asset to your organization.

Also, I did not spend much time with him, but Enrique (Henry) was also a pleasure to deal with.  He provided the tour of Masaya Volcano and market and his service was excellent.  Again, he had a great command of English and was extremely knowledgeable of the subject matter at hand.
I bumped into him later on in my trip when he was giving a tour in Granada.  He was extremely pleasant when he saw me and offered to let me tag along as he spoke.  I did so for his portion of the tour that explained the history of the Alhambra and Colonial Hotels.

Lastly, I wanted to make sure you knew that I would definitely recommend Careli Tours to anyone who was planning to visit Nicaragua.  While Augusto and Enrique were very good on the front end, I am sure there were many people on the back end that did hard work to make sure my vacation was a success.  I had the opportunity to thank Augusto and Enrique in person, so please extend my thanks to the rest of the Careli team.

My name is Dennis Duck and I just returned from a great trip to Nicaragua and I would like you to know what a great guide I had during my stay, Juan Carlos is a great guide, very knowledgeable on the history and nature of Nicaragua and was able to get me every where I wanted to go, answer very question I had, and when he said he would be pick me up at a certain time he was always on time.  I enjoyed my trip a great deal and would return to Nicaragua again.
